A yoga strap isn't a sign that you're "not flexible enough." It's a tool that lets you keep good alignment while your body gradually opens up.
1. Reclined Hamstring Stretch
Lie on your back and loop the strap around one foot. Extend that leg toward the ceiling, keeping a slight bend in the knee if needed. Hold for 8–10 breaths, then switch.
2. Shoulder Opener
Hold the strap wider than shoulder-width in both hands. Lift your arms overhead and, if comfortable, slowly bring them behind you. Widen your grip if you feel any pinching.
3. Seated Forward Fold
Sit with legs extended and loop the strap around both feet. Lengthen your spine first, then hinge forward from the hips, walking your hands along the strap.
4. Quad Stretch
Lie on your belly, loop the strap around one ankle and gently draw the heel toward your glute.
Good to Know
- Stretch to a comfortable edge—never into pain.
- Breathe slowly; each exhale is a chance to soften a little more.
- A strap with a buckle or D-ring lets you make loops for supported poses.
